My Journey to Helping Leaders Thrive
While I was born and raised in the Midwest, I began traveling back and forth between Ohio and Colorado at a young age, spending extended time with my dad throughout my childhood. I was fortunate enough to travel and be exposed to nuanced experiences where I became fascinated with how people adapt, grow, and overcome challenges.
That curiosity led me to study psychology, working across nonprofits, courts, schools, and behavioral health centers, where I saw firsthand how stress, trauma, and systemic pressures shape people’s lives.
Over the first decade of my career, I was committed to working with adults, children, and families in residential, outpatient, and community-based settings who had been adversely impacted by substance use, mental health issues, and other risk factors that individuals commonly experience in underrepresented communities.
One of the defining moments in my career was working with women and children in the criminal justice system, where I saw how untreated trauma and systemic barriers compounded stress and led to devastating circumstances such as addiction, substance dependence, and, at times, incarceration.
The culmination of these experiences created a unique insight into the systemic challenges and multifaceted issues that many leaders and high performers face in their professions.
In 2016, I established Wellness Counselors and began providing counseling services to individuals, adolescents, and families in the greater Columbus area. As my private practice grew, I developed a passion for working with clients in fields such as Education, Law, Medicine, Business, and other high-performing professions—realizing that, despite different circumstances, they often face the same unacknowledged stress and pressure to succeed at all costs.
Hence, the mission of Wellness Counselors—to help high achievers navigate the hidden toll of leadership, build resilience, and sustain success in a way that feels fulfilling and aligned with their values.
